The Kota Kinabalu Trip

Ayahnya kena lah jaga Sofea. 1st day memang adventurous sungguh. Maklumlah, ayahnya ni dah lama tidak memegang dan menjaga seorang bayi, but everything was fine. I just missed lunch and was not able to sleep, that’s all :( .

Sofea And Ayah At Kota Kinabalu

This was taken on the 2nd day at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Pictures later ok. It was the first time Sofea was left alone with me while Azlin was off to work. She was fine except when dia dah mengantuk sangat and looking for ibu’s fresh milk. I got those things on my chest, tapi takde susu la :) .

I Shaved My Head

Stand back Sharifah Amani, I shaved my head too and I look much cuter than you :) … ha..ha..

This was taken in Sungai Buloh. Masa tu tak balik ke Taiping lagi. Orang yang mengurut Lin tu tolong cukur kan. I don’t think I would be able to do it, not even Lin or her mother.

Jaundice

When Sofea look a little bit yellowish, we were told that goat’s milk, traditionally, would help to cure jaundice. I went to 4 places to look for it. The first one was out of stock and they could only get us a fresh one in 2 days. From there, they directed me to a petrol station that might have some stock. Went there but the staff at the counter told me that they don’t sell goat’s milk anymore and she gave me directions to 2 other places that might have. Went to both, but there was no goat’s milk to be found :( .

No choice, I canceled my plan to go back to Prai to work. Sent Sofea to clinic the next day. The doctor took some blood and after a few hours, she called up and said that Sofea has jaundice. Sofea was warded for 5 days.

Jaundice is yellowing of the skin (and eyes) caused by an accumulation of bile pigment (bilirubin) in the blood. That was what the doctor said. What is bilirubin or bile pigment? Yang ni, you have to search the net. The bilirubin level when Sofea was admitted was 272 but gradually went down. I am not sure what was the measurement used either :) . All I know is that she was yellow in color.

How to check whether your child has jaundice or not?
It is actually very easy to check for jaundice and this works on all people regardless the race or color of the skin. A simple test for jaundice is to gently press your fingertip on your child’s forehead. If the skin shows white there is no jaundice, obvious isn’t it, but if it shows a yellowish color, you should contact your child’s doctor.

Alhamdulillah, she’s better now. By the way, We will leave for Taiping tomorrow, so for those yang nak visit tu, cepat-cepat lah sikit :) .
